At Eastbay Campground, the lake is never far from the daily routine. Campsites sit along the shore of Devils Lake, with broad water views, a beach within a short walk, and fishing docks right on the grounds. It is an easy setup for people who want their camping trip to include more than sitting under an awning.
The property covers several styles of stay: tent sites, RV sites, smaller and full-size camping areas, and cabins. That range gives a family with a trailer, a pair of anglers, and a cabin-seeking group a way to use the same lakeside base without making the trip feel overly formal.
Cleanliness is one of the steady practical pleasures here. The grounds, campsites, restrooms, showers, and shared areas are kept tidy, which matters a great deal after a sandy beach afternoon or a long morning on the water.
A Campground Built Around the Water
Some individual sites include water and electricity along with a picnic table and fire ring. A few are positioned about 50 yards from the lake, close enough that a walk to the shore can be a small break between breakfast and the next planned outing.
Gravel roads run through the campground, creating a low-speed setting that works comfortably for families with children. The road into Eastbay is also gravel or dirt for a little more than a mile from the main road, so the final approach is best taken slowly. In dry conditions, it can be dusty.
The beach and docks are both on the property, making it simple to split a day between shore time and fishing. Beach shoes can be useful in some areas. Water conditions can also change with warm or windy weather, including occasional green coloration along parts of the lakeshore.
Cabins for a More Sheltered Stay
The cabins offer a compact alternative to pitching a tent. They have been described with bunk beds, a kitchenette, table, and couch: a straightforward little arrangement for people who want a roof, a place to make coffee, and a home base for lake days.
Cabin layouts are not all identical, and some sleeping setups use upper bunks that require climbing. Dogs are allowed at the campground; cabin guests bringing pets may encounter an additional charge.
The Small Conveniences Matter
Eastbay's store stocks food, bait, and the ordinary supplies that tend to become important once camp is set up: the thing forgotten at home, the item needed before breakfast, or bait for an unplanned evening at the dock.
The store shares the practical center of the grounds with bathroom and shower facilities. On-site laundry is available as well, a particularly welcome detail during a longer stay, after a muddy fishing day, or when the children have somehow used every clean shirt by day two.
There is also a small play area near the campground, plus soft-serve ice cream on the property. Those are modest features, but they help fill the unstructured hours between a swim, a boat ride, and supper at the picnic table.
Fishing Has Its Own Infrastructure
Devils Lake fishing is a central reason many people stay at Eastbay, and the property is set up accordingly. Anglers can fish from shore or docks, use the marina, and clean the day's catch at the fish-cleaning facility rather than trying to make do back at a campsite.
Walleye and northern have been caught from the resort area, while guide service is available for walleye and perch outings. That makes the campground workable for both self-directed anglers who want to cast from the bank and groups planning a more focused day on the lake.
The boating side is not limited to serious fishing. Pontoon rides, kayak rentals, and tubing behind boats add a looser, summer-afternoon dimension to the place. A marina on the grounds keeps the lake at the center of the visit instead of something reached by a separate drive.
Eastbay has also served as a base for duck-hunting trips. The mix of cabins, camping, lake access, and useful facilities gives an outdoors-oriented group plenty of ways to organize a stay.
A Place to Slow Down Between Outings
Not every hour needs an agenda. A stay can move naturally from a cabin or campsite to the beach, then to the docks, the store, and back to a fire ring. The lake supplies the scenery, while the campground handles the unglamorous but necessary pieces.
A steak fry has been offered as a campground gathering or arrival-night meal, a fitting start to a weekend when nobody wants to begin by cooking a full supper. Lakeside photography and pontoon outings give quieter groups their own reasons to spend time outdoors.
Late in the season, the open lakeside setting has even offered a view of the Northern Lights. That is a nice possibility rather than something to count on, but it suits a campground where the evening can remain pleasantly simple after the boats and beachgoers have settled down.
The Odessa Event Center by the Lake
Eastbay also has a larger purpose in the Odessa Event Center, a spacious venue for weddings and other gatherings. The arrangement is especially convenient for a lakefront celebration: a gazebo outside for the ceremony, room for photographs beside Devils Lake, and an indoor hall for the reception.
The hall has accommodated receptions of about 200 guests comfortably. It can be arranged for a larger crowd, though a more tightly packed setup changes the room's feel. For a substantial family wedding, reunion, or community gathering, it provides a more expansive setting than a typical campground lodge.
The event team provides food service and handles post-event cleanup, allowing the day to move from the gazebo to dinner and dancing without leaving the property. The grounds also give couples and guests room for daytime portraits as well as sunset pictures near the water.
A Few Planning Notes
Tent camping appears to be more limited than the RV and cabin options; during prime season, one account noted four tent sites. Campers who prefer a tent-only trip may find the smaller selection worth keeping in mind.
For everyone else, Eastbay's appeal is its useful concentration of facilities: lodging, a store, showers, laundry, beach access, docks, a marina, a play area, and a fish-cleaning station all in one lakeside setting. It lets a weekend stay be as active or as unhurried as the group wants.
